Children’s Hospice South West supports children with life-limiting conditions, and their families. At CHSW they are committed to making the most of short and precious lives. The care offered at each of their three hospices is not simply about medical and nursing care for sick children, but about enriching the lives of children and their families. Families talk about the ‘treasure chest’ of precious memories they build, to carry into the future… a future which will, sadly, be without their much loved child or children.
At their three beautiful children’s hospices, Little Bridge House in North Devon, Little Harbour in Cornwall and Charlton Farm in North Somerset, they support parents, brothers and sisters and the poorly child, from diagnosis towards bereavement and beyond. They relieve the burden of caring for a sick child from families and allow them to spend precious time together focusing on just being a family. The whole family can stay at their hospices, and with a dedicated sibling support service available, this means that the well brothers and sisters can be cared for during their visit and enjoy spending time with other children in similar situations to their own.
To face the reality of losing your child means those who desperately need our help face an uncertain and fragile future. Children’s Hospice South West walk alongside them providing respite care, palliative and ultimately, end of life care for their child. Their work continues after bereavement for the whole family.
